A Western Summit nem a világ legszuperebb középiskolája. Nem elég, hogy Gardner diri kiábrándult a világból, szinte nincs olyan gyerek, aki ne küzdene valamilyen lelki problémával. Charlie Bartlett a közelmúltban érkezett a suliba, a beilleszkedése nem éppen zökkenőmentes. A srác azonban gyorsan átlátja a helyzetet, itt lépni kell. A sármjának és a jó emberismeretének köszönhetően hamarosan ő lesz az iskola önjelölt pszichiátere. Charlie-nak minden problémára van megoldása, sőt pirulája. A diadalmenetét azonban nem nézi jó szemmel Gardner diri, akinek az elbűvölő lánya is rákattan a srácra.
