Az 1066-ban járunk. Tostig Godwinson és III. Harald norvég király megtámadja Angliát. Két hétköznapi fiatal férfi, Tofi (Mike Bailey) és Leofric (Tim Plester) olyan események sodrába kerülnek, amelyek egész Európa sorsát végképp megváltoztatják. Hazájuk védelmében, a két barát beáll II. Harold angol király seregébe és a stamford bridge-i csatában legyőzik a nagy viking hadsereget. De még mielőtt megünnepelhetnék a győzelmet, érkezik a hír, hogy Hódító Vilmos, Normandia hercege megtámadta Angliát és Sussex közelében már partra is szállt... Szülőfalujukat közvetlen támadás fenyegeti, ezért a két barát Hastings felé veszi az utat, hogy szembeszálljanak a kegyetlen betolakodókkal. Nem is sejtik, hogy a középkor legádázabb, legvéresebb csatája vár rájuk amire még évszázadokkal később is borzongással gondol minden ember.
