Az iskolai lap riportere, Bobby Funke (Reece Thompson) címlapsztorit készül írni Paulról, a suli népszerű diákelnökéről, aki számos vonzó tulajdonsága mellett természetesen még élsportoló is. Amikor eltűnik egy köteg vizsgateszt a szigorú Kirkpatrick igazgatóúr (Bruce Willis) irodájából, Bobby újságcikkében Paul-t nevezi meg gyanúsítottként, amivel egy csapásra a figyelem központjába kerül. Csakhogy Paul barátnője, a szexi, végzős Francesca (Mischa Barton) rányomul Bobby-ra, addigi ellenségei pedig gyanúsan kedvessé válnak, ezért Bobby kételkedni kezd a sztársrác bűnösségében, és nyomozásba kezd. Hamarosan az egész sulit behálózó összeesküvést fed fel, ami a diákokat és a tanárokat egyaránt veszélybe sodorhatja.
