Giselle-t, a szépséges hercegnőt a gonosz királynő száműzi a varázslatos, dalokkal teli rajzfilmvilágból. Ennek következményeként a lány a mai, modern Amerikában találja magát. A hétköznapi élethez szokott lány csak kapkodja a fejét a manhattani elit szokásait és értékrendjét figyelve. Értetlenül áll a gyermekeiket idegenekre bízó, idejüket és millióikat vásárlásra és utazásra költő nők életstílusa előtt. Telnek a hetek, és Annie sok mindenre rájön. Például arra, hogy a kisfiú igazából imádnivaló; a munkaadói a csillogó látszat ellenére nem is annyira boldogok és arra is, hogy a szomszéd egyetemista a legjóképűbb férfi Manhattanben. A Vince Vaughn eredeti ötletéből készült fergeteges vígjátékban négy középnyugati férj és feleség egy trópusi szigeti üdülőparadicsomba utazik az egyik pár ötlete nyomán, akik a házasságukat szeretnék rendbe hozni ezen a vakáción. A Western Summit nem a világ legszuperebb középiskolája. Nem elég, hogy Gardner diri kiábrándult a világból, szinte nincs olyan gyerek, aki ne küzdene valamilyen lelki problémával. Charlie Bartlett a közelmúltban érkezett a suliba, a beilleszkedése nem éppen zökkenőmentes. A srác azonban gyorsan átlátja a helyzetet, itt lépni kell. A sármjának és a jó emberismeretének köszönhetően hamarosan ő lesz az iskola önjelölt pszichiátere. Charlie-nak minden problémára van megoldása, sőt pirulája. A diadalmenetét azonban nem nézi jó szemmel Gardner diri, akinek az elbűvölő lánya is rákattan a srácra.

A végzős középiskolás Danny nagy erőkkel készül az év végi sulibálra. Már elköltött hatszáz dollárt a limuzinra, a szmokingra és a hotelszobára. De valami hiányzik: egy lány, akit elvinne!
Miközben dübörgő hormonjait igyekszik kordában tartani, meg kell küzdenie frissen elvált szülei jószándékú, de idióta tanácsaival, barátai gúnyolódásával, és persze találnia kell egy nőnemű lényt. Danny kétségbeesése akkor csap át pánikba, amikor megtudja, hogy Bartnak, aki az iskola legnagyobb strébere, nem csak megvan a partnere az estére, de szobát is foglalt.
Kacagtató vígjáték a tinédzserkor fontos pillanatairól, a nagy buktákról és kínos helyzetekről.
